The shop next door deserves
to be on your way home.
Every commute passes a dozen local businesses. Most of them are invisible until they close. SideStops puts the deal in front of you before you've already driven past — so a few extra dollars of your week end up at the corner cafe, the family-run bookshop, the one-chair barber, instead of the usual mega-retailers or online carts.
Cannabis and adult listings are hidden by default. If you're 21+ and want to see them, check the box when you sign up — or toggle it later in your account menu.
Why this exists
Big platforms charge local merchants 20–30% per order and bury anyone who can't outbid them. Meanwhile the people who live three blocks away never hear about the new sandwich, the Tuesday-night discount, the kids'-shoe sale.
SideStops takes a different angle: no commission, no auction, no algorithm picking winners. Merchants pay a flat subscription — small enough that a single new customer pays for the month — and consumers see every deal on their route, ranked by what's actually closest, not who paid most. The money you'd have spent on a chain ends up in your neighbor's till. Multiply that by a few thousand commutes a day and it becomes real.
One more thing: SideStops isn't an online store or a delivery app. Every deal here is in-person — you drive by, you walk in, you meet the owner. We're trying to make the trip you're already taking a reason to stop somewhere local and bring a bit of that face-to-face back into everyday life.
How to use it
A few tips
- Corridor: the slider controls how far off your route SideStops looks. Wider = more options, narrower = strictly on your way.
- Explore: button on the left rail searches the area you're looking at on the map — handy when you're in a neighborhood without a planned route.
- Favorites: tap the heart on any card. Use the Favorites toggle to filter to just your spots.
- Deals only: toggle hides everything without an active deal.
- Map pin → card: click a pin on the map and the card highlights and scrolls into view.
- Install to your home screen: after you sign in, open the user menu (top-right pill) and tap 📲 Install app. SideStops adds an icon to your phone's home screen and launches full-screen like a native app. On iPhone/Safari you can also do it from the browser's Share menu → Add to Home Screen. Free, no store, no download — just a shortcut.

SideStops is self-hosted. Your routes live in your browser unless you sign in (in which case they sync to one server we control). No third-party trackers, no ad networks, no selling your location to anyone. The map tiles come from OpenStreetMap. The routing engine runs on our own box.
